I think where Google excels is in identifying obvious cognitive skills
that might be overlooked by standard web conventions.

For me the immediacy of clicking quickly through articles offers a
comfortable affordance of browsing presentations of images and
typography that convey the character of the article as well as the
information.

When you look at the type treatments of People and US you expect a
certain kind of trash and when you see the masthead of the "grey
lady" (NYTimes) you have a feeling of a slightly more trusted
source.

Often while looking through Google links of stories I'll pick one
for the title not knowing that I am going to a blog or less than
trusted publication.  I think it is a good experiment and I'll watch
it closely.
