Not really...that stuff is very easy to work around without negatively impacting the inherent value of the list. Here's exactly what I mean. Let's say there is a single topic that has 20 posts to the list. If I see that a single person is responsible for 10 of those posts, regardless of who it is, I know that it's a flame war and DELETE THE WHOLE THING without reading any of it. Why? Not because I dislike conflict. I think differing views, even those that are stated in unrepentant language, are extremely valuable. But when it just becomes the same person nattering on and on about the same thing because the channel of communication is inneffective, it's a waste of time. As eloquent as Jared Spool is, e-mail dilutes his wit and insight. As intelligent as Andrei Herasinchuk is, e-mail fails to convey his meaning as effectively as an in-person conversation. It's true for everyone. So rather than continuing to dig when the hole is already 10 feet deep, climb out and breathe the air. Let someone else say their peace. Or just let it die, whether it's UCD or Flash or VISIO or whatever. No argument is so important that it needs to consume itself. So it has nothing to do with quality, it's all about how I try to protect my time. Dante (editorially, this is the kind of thing you learn when you listen to your users)

I haven't seen that frequency of posting is inversely proportionate to quality of input. I can think of at least one very frequent poster who's always thoughtful and interesting to read. Aren't you trying to say, "Don't post stupid, overly wordy, or redundant stuff?" Good luck with that. :-) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
