Hi List :

I am searching for an E-mail Archiving program that will pull email from
multiple email accounts into one (1) archive file that is search-able. It
should also be somewhat easy to use and manage.  I am also interested in a
program that will run in multiple operating systems, if possible.  This then
should allow for the most flexible choice as the file grows over time.

Here is a program that I have come across :

MailStore Home - The Most Popular Email Archiving Solution World-Wide.

This non-commercial freeware email archiving solution backs up email from
multiple email applications and accounts into one single
secure and searchable location. Whether you use Outlook,
Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Gmail - you are covered.

Lightning-fast search, one-click backup, powerful export (restore) -
all information from your email is at your fingertips anytime. Never
lose important email again!

and other files

Backup with MailStore Home comes as close to being a snap as you're
going to get. Reading emails in the backup archive is as easy or easier
as reading them in a regular email client. The quick search utility lets
you find that one message you're looking for out of all the possible
accounts it could have been in.

                        Integrated Backup Feature

Backup your entire MailStore to CD, DVD or USB
drives with a click of the mouse.

                        Not a One Way Street

Emails can be restored from the archive
individually or in their entirety using
                            a variety of export features.

                        Independence

Often times, changing email service providers (e.g.
from Yahoo Mail to Gmail)
fails because existing emails cannot be
transferred. With MailStore Home this
dependency can be eliminated with a click of the
mouse.

The only issue I have with this product is that the install will also install
Microsoft's dot NET version 2.0.

OR
I could consider the program called Mail Archiva which is available in Open
Source version and is a cross-platform product,  but I believe that it takes
more experience to properly install and setup.
MailArchiva is standards based.  Emails
are stored in a standard format, directly on the filesystem.
As a result, there are no hidden database maintenance costs
and the integrity of archived information is not subject to
                    database corruption.

MailArchiva employs highly scalable search engine technology.  A Google-like
web interface
is provided, enabling auditors and employees to search
through
tens of millions of emails at the click of a button.

OR
I could go to a Hosted service such as Message Labs for my personal needs but
what about costs related to all.  From the look of their site, it could be not
a very easy and cost effective solution.
Does any list member have any experience with either of these products and can
you make alternative suggestions based on your personal experience.
I will thank you now for your participation in this inquiry.
Sincerely,Harvey RothenbergSystems Integrator/Security Researcher/Specialist
