*waves back* Hi Tom! So...I collect sysadmin blogs, and while I know I don't have the whole set, I make my collection public. You can check out my Google-reader exported OPML file here: http://www.standalone-sysadmin.com/~matt/reader-subscriptions.xml but I wouldn't recommend just blindly subscribing to everything.
The blogs that I love and can't let myself miss are: Last In, First Out http://blog.lastinfirstout.net/ - Michael Janke is a top notch, brilliant sysadmin. It's unfortunate that the blog is updated as infrequently as it is, but I suspect that's because Michael is busy doing, not talking. When he updates, it's gold. The Lone Sysadmin http://lonesysadmin.net/ - This was one of the very first blogs I ever started reading as a sysadmin. Bob Plankers is a smart guy, he writes well, and he's got a sharp tongue that's almost always right on the mark. The Blog of Ben Rockwood http://www.cuddletech.com/blog/index.php - How can you not read this blog? Ben is the authority on things Solaris, and his blog is pretty amazing. Cspace by Chris Seiberman http://utcc.utoronto.ca/~cks/space/blog/ - The layout of the blog is sparse, but the information it contains is always useful. This was another of the early blogs that I started reading and haven't stopped yet. SysAdmin1138 Expounds http://sysadmin1138.net/mt/blog/ - I like this blog. I don't know whether it's the the excellent writing, the good topics, or just the fact that he's been pretty much continually blogging since 2004 and doesn't show signs of stopping. The Nubby Admin http://thenubbyadmin.com/ - I haven't decided how to pronounce the name of this blog yet, but Wesley David (aka Nonapeptide) started reading my blog a while back, and I followed his links back to his, and decided that I had to subscribe. He writes very well about a variety of topics that are generally of interest to sysadmins, and he does a good job at it. The Life of a SysAdmin http://saintaardvarkthecarpeted.com/blog/ - Hugh Brown has the single greatest online handle I've ever heard, in SaintAardvarkTheCarpeted. In addition, he's got a very nice sysadmin blog that I've read for a few years now. He's quick, witty, and on the ball. It's always a good read, and ever since LISA a year ago, I'm happy to call him my friend. Blog Fiasco http://blog.funnelfiasco.com/ - This is officially the Funnel Fiasco blog, which is a funny name for a sysadmin blog. That's partially explained by the fact that it isn't /technically/ a sysadmin blog, any more than XKCD is a comic strip about math. It's a blog by a sysadmin about the things he does. That includes things like writing for the Fedora documentation project, admining the Condor cluster at Purdue, and being an all-out weather junkie. Ben Cotton actually has a degree in meterology, but chooses to stay in computers for the fame and the lifestyle. Very much a great blog to read. That's hardly it, but I think that's a good start. Again, check out the OPML link that I gave up at the top. Thanks, and take care! --Matt On Sun, Nov 28, 2010 at 8:35 PM, Tom Perrine <[email protected]> wrote: > Since moving to Google Reader last year, I've been reading more and > more blogs.
