Actually, Flip Kromer at Infochimps does have the title "data farmer" on his business cards. Of course, they are a small startup here in Austin and he is also the CTO, so I guess he can have whatever title he wants. But I do think this is a semi serious title that he chose for himself, as opposed to some of the more fanciful titles that some of the other people seem to have.
And this whole concept of "devops" is not really new. There has been a lot of crossover and a very fuzzy line between dev & ops for a long time. What does seem to be happening more often now is a formal recognition of this overlap, and an acceptance of what this means, as opposed to the violent opposition that seems to have been more common in the past. -- Brad Knowles Sent from my iPad On Jan 12, 2011, at 7:11 PM, Paul Graydon <[email protected]> wrote: > On 01/12/2011 02:09 PM, Matt Simmons wrote: >> If you're all about the farming metaphors, you could just say that >> system administration is "data husbandry" >> >> --Matt > > Wonder if I can persuade them to change my business card? > Senior Data Husbandrer. > > Paul > _______________________________________________ > Discuss mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss > This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators > http://lopsa.org/ _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
