doing the billing to the card processor and taking their cut.

I believe that both Google and Amazon (among others) offer this exact service, so you can build your app, tie to them, and they deal with the credit card companies, etc.

now it may be that they are the 'card processor' as you term it, in this case and I am just not using the right terminology.
