I have nothing against a Code of Ethics (I have it hanging up in my cube here,
as a matter of fact) but… Who is going to enforce this? It’s OK I think to
promulgate a voluntary Code of Ethics, but I don’t see how anyone is really
going to prosecute violations…

Well, we aren't a formal profession yet, though someday we hope to be. And,
then we could enforce our code of ethics.
Even then, it would require somebody to make a formal complaint that a member
had received a gift membership (or amount towards) that is to bias or influence
them, and then for us to investigate and take other appropriate actions as
defined by our policies/bylaws?
Right now I don't really see anything in Policies and Bylaws though....
Says membership can be terminated for "Failure to meet obligations of
membership." "...as set out in the Rules (including the payment of dues)...."
But, can't find what these "Rules" are.
Though there's "Termination by the Board for cause." "...at the discretion of
the Board, as set forth in Policies." Though not sure where those Policies are.

When people sign up to lopsa, don't we sign up to follow code of ethics
among other things? That implies active consent (which I guess people could
decide on when "cashing" in a gift membership…)
