I read this announcement and got most of what you are saying here. I'd like to confirm: Google wants our business, but only under gmail.com going forward? If a person can effectively use google with their private domain name, some howtos would be useful. I tried doing this a while back and it kept exposing my gmail account name, which is why I got a free apps account.
