Given an error message I can probably find the relevant manual section from the vendor faster with a google search than looking for my local copy of the same document. It will probably search the vendor forums quicker than going there manually too. Google is a tool like all the other tools we have and I would be very careful about consigning the use of it to something worthless because, what - everyone can do it ? The art of well constructed searches and keyword selection is a skill. Think cars; there are many people who have passed a driving test. There certainly don't seem to be many good drivers. FWIW.
