Thanks all for cluing me in... we'll see if "opt out" works now ;)
BTW, this was the opt-out email message I rec'd: ----- From: LOPSA Member Services [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2014 12:05 AM To: Will Dennis Subject: Opt-out Confirmation Your email address has been removed from The League of Professional System Administrators mailing lists. ----- Obviously (and thankfully) not *all* lists, because I'm still receiving email from this list... Someone might want to tweak that message to have it say "sponsor mailing lists" or the like, so ppl don't think they've been unsubscribed from discuss / tech / etc. Thanks, Will -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Philip Kizer Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2014 11:26 AM To: discuss Subject: Re: [lopsa-discuss] SPAM: Oh Snap! I'm not sure how long you've been a member, but this is one of the things that did happen more frequently in previous years. It's just been a while since we've had a sponsor make use of the (1 or 2 times a year) benefit. As Matt said, it's a benefit offered to LOPSA sponsors, and the fact that you're seeing such announcements again in some ways is actually a really good thing since it means LOPSA indeed has new corporate sponsorship to both show support of LOPSA as an organization and provide resources to help with organizational goals. I'm no longer on the board and I can't currently speak to the "opt out" situation, but regarding the policy, see the following two related items. First, the actual policy: https://governance.lopsa.org/LOPSA_Policies/Sponsorship [...] The Development Committee may, at its discretion * create differing levels of recognition based on sponsorship source, type, or amount [...] and what the committee has set (and published) for sponsorship rewards (as already linked to by Matt): https://lopsa.org/Sponsorships See the last bullet item in each of the Gold and Platinum sponsorship levels that mention email to members as an option. Overall you should actually see this message as a sign of health of LOPSA, at least I do and though I have no need of their service, I definitely welcome them as a LOPSA sponsor! -philip _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
