First thanks to Craig for bringing this subject up and for everyone else for all your ideas and thoughts on the subject. I am one of the overstretched folks he mentions who needs to get better at finding other people to help out and delegating tasks to them (one reason it has taken so long for me to respond to this thread). At this time I think we need both 'doing' and 'project management' help with an emphasis on the 'doing' part. As such here is a partial list of things I think an office staff person could help LOPSA with:

Communications:
* Collect content, generate content (do interviews), and publish the LOPSAGram each month
* Create a graphical version of the LOPSAGram
* Help collect and post content on the website

Marketing:
* Create ads for LOPSA and get them in magazines and websites
* Manage LOPSA branded merchandise and conference swag
* Pick new swag for conferences
* Work on translation of Code of Ethics to other languages
* Help with social media posting and management
* Manage events such as System Admin Day and our 10th Anniversary!

Education:
* Maintain a list of colleges with system admin degrees
* Create a list of outcomes for system admin courses and degrees

Conferences:
* Coordinate trainers at conferences
* Create a list of trainers
* Manage conference literature and booth equipment
* Coordinate booth help
* Attend conferences and work the booth

Membership:
* Manage renewal letters and surveys to members
* Send out new member packets
* Handle member issues

Sponsorship:
* Search for new sponsors
* Maintain existing sponsorship relationships
* Maintain membership database

General:
* Handle email, mail, and phone requests to LOPSA
* Make sure board and committee members are meeting their deadlines

As you can see, there are more than tasks than a full time person can handle, much less a part time person. The board is looking at our options for hiring help, but if you can give back a bit of time to LOPSA and are interested in one of the task above, please email me or volunt...@lopsa.org.

cheers,

ski
