Again: This list was set up to be open, archived, and searchable; there was never any requirement for security. Anyone may join, and anyone -- including people who are not members of the list -- may read the archives. We know email isn't secure; we knew that when this list was set up, but for this particular application, that lack of security is OK. > Slack . . . premium (well covered in members dues) For LOPSA to spend money requires action on the part of the Board of Directors, not just a discussion on this list. If you think LOPSA should spend money on Slack, you would need to make a proposal to the Board -- one that included a cost-benefit analysis; if you can't show that spending money on Slack to replace the existing mailing lists is 1) good for the organization and 2) better than the other likely uses of LOPSA's (limited) funds, you proposal is unlikely to be adopted.
