Nothing stops someone from floating a trial balloon... whether with the
Board, or setting up an unofficial LOPSA thing on e.g. Slack and thereby
gathering data you can take to the Board.

I would note that your own attitude did you no favors with this "first
attempt"; you have alienated a good deal of the community already with your
presentation to date.
