that line on the log suggests that uwgi server has started:

however above that I see that uwsgi did harakiri (killed itself). Is there
a case that it happens often and thus starts/stops the server before it can
handle requests? Can't tell at this point.

I suggest that you try with paster and see if it gets loaded by there.
