To all,
I finally had a chance to talk to the electrical installation manager
at my work about getting some work done at the space!!
First and foremost:: ( excuse the caps )
ALL WORK DONE IN A COMMERCIAL SPACE MUST BE DONE BY A JOURNEYMAN LEVEL
ELECTRICIAN THAT IS CURRENTLY EMPLOYED WITH THE COMMERCIAL ELECTRICAL
CONTRACTOR PULLING THE PERMIT FROM THE CITY !!!
There is no wiggle room on this one, the fines are very hefty, $5000
and up, and the city would have the right to lock us out of the space until
the electrical was brought up to CODE! The company that pulled the permit
would be in trouble as well with the signed electrician possibly losing his
ticket.
I reviewed all options with him and there is no changing this fact. We
are a commercial space and we do not have any other legal options. Anyone
offering to let us do the work and them inspect it is taking a chance with
not only our occupancy, but their our career at the same time.
I will talk to him either tomorrow or next week over the plans and he
will get us a number to work with. I will be exploring options of getting
the job done for labor only and have my work donate as much as they are
willing.
I will keep everyone up to date with information as I get it.
G Mike
