Air conditioners and dehumidifiers don't work well in single-digit
temperatures. My dehumidifier used to ice up even in low double-digits
unless I put another fan in blowing over the coils.

Fan mode sounds like a good plan for now. It might even be a good time to
consider using that heat for the rest of the space.
