Are we sure the damage isn't caused by people yanking on the door from the
outside when it's closed? Whenever I give it a good tug, the cracks on the
frame spread alarmingly. I haven't seen it do that when I push on the door.

It's pretty easy to turn around when I leave, wait a second or two, and
check to see if the door has locked.
It always has, every time I check.
I thought we had agreed to fix the frame first. If it makes sense to replace
the closing mechanism first, I'm sure we can find a kind volunteer tomorrow.
