Nope pilots are thermally activated so if it goes out then the gas shuts
off..if you try to run the main burner with the pilot out, you will smell it
right away. They are very safe that way.

You need to light the pilot light.. the instructions are on the unit.
Basicly you need to turn the pilot knob to 'light' and push it down and hold it
while lighting the pilot. Wait 60 seconds and let go. The pilot should stay
lit. After that turn it to 'normal' and it should run normally after that.
