I agree with you here. This is a really interesting looking project.
Unfortunately unless it's something you're feeling passionate and
altruistic about I wouldn't consider doing it in conjunction with a
day-job or quitting your day job for it. I'd even be a little hesitant
if I was a contractor without a steady day job. However, recent grads
and people with free time just looking for something exciting to do
might love this... it really does look like a fun idea.

My thoughts:

- Mid-March until April 30th gives a six week time-frame. Not
impossible depending on the quality of the groundwork laid out by the
initial team, but I'd expect those to be six very full weeks.

- Assuming 40 hour work weeks, the MAX their budget supports is
$52.08/hour for a single person team. Half that if you have two
people. This may sound like good pay compared to the average office
worker, but bear in mind that this is contract work and you likely
don't have any benefits. Also bear in mind that those numbers are
assuming you and your partner are the only expenses the project has
(unlikely).

+ It's a great cause, this isn't some sleezy business proposal, it's a
legitimately awesome NGO with a pretty cool idea.

+ They have a pretty sexy technology stack. I'm sure recruiters have
lurid dreams of resumes with words like "HTML5", "Android", "IOS", and
"résumé".

Personally, day job notwithstanding, I'd love to do this project. Yet
I simply wouldn't be able to afford to.
