The difference is the landlord would give the designated repair guy the
code as needed, so it we could change it regularly.

If we ourselves used only a code for access (instead of fobs), we'd need to
inform 50 members every time someone quit SkSp or had key access suspended.

If I understand how the current system works, having a locksmith fix the
door would not only re-enable key access for the landlord, but would allow
people to open the door from the inside by turning the knob instead of
pushing a button.

If this is right, we should do this as soon as we can afford to (right
after fixing the kitchen sink outlet), as it will not only make the
landlord happier, but will make the space safer (in case of emergency)...
which brings us closer to compliance with occupancy codes.... which at some
point we really wanted.
