Oh how I wish that were true:) I had dropouts all day today with the
squeezebox no more than 3 feet from the AP and nothing but air in
between. And in a hospital where cellphones and wifi are forbidden
(though most people in my area of the building disregard the former).
I'm not entirely sure its the wifi, though.  I get no dropouts wired;
maybe theres some io scheduling issues with the single threaded nature
of slimserver that only come up with wireless (or my wireless driver).
I reniced it as high as it would go with minimal (possibly even
coincidental) effect. I also tried the latest nightly 6.0, which
skipped at least as much. I mentioned this in a thread of my own, but
since noone's responded... ;)

Things I'll be trying next (PLEASE help me add to this list):
-a more mainstream kernel(but not too mainstream; my root fs is reiser4)
-enabling various debug flags in slimserver (none of them look real
promising to me, but its worth a try- could use some input on this)
-trying it in windows (not sure whether this is possible- the notebook
as access point (easy in linux) or the sb in ad-hoc mode(no
documentation or option that I can find and doesnt "just work"))
-various antenna arangements (it has occured to me that, perhaps, the
signal is too strong: obscure it; otherwise build a directional
antenna)
-shielding my backpack (in addition to operating between the desk and
floor, I need my notebook and SB to talk within the same backpack
(different pockets))
