LOL! OK I give up. If you are 5 ft from the access point then of course there will virtually no issues at 1.4Mbps.

Oh how I wish that were true:) I had dropouts all day today with the
squeezebox no more than 3 feet from the AP and nothing but air in
between. And in a hospital where cellphones and wifi are forbidden
(though most people in my area of the building disregard the former). I'm not entirely sure its the wifi, though. I get no dropouts wired;
maybe theres some io scheduling issues with the single threaded nature
of slimserver that only come up with wireless (or my wireless driver).
I reniced it as high as it would go with minimal (possibly even
coincidental) effect. I also tried the latest nightly 6.0, which
skipped at least as much. I mentioned this in a thread of my own, but
since noone's responded... ;)
I've been too busy giggling at the image of the little girl from Airplane, when the folk-singing stewardess keeps pulling out the IV with her guitar.... only instead of the stewardess, it's you and your backpack rig walking up and down the hallway :)
