Hi All,
I am a new SqueezeBox owner and I LOVE IT!  The box itself is has a small stylish footprint and seems well made.  SlimServer is powerful yet easy to use.  I am using my SqueezeBox in a commercial location.  It is a retail store and we are playing demos of the music we sell, so I am covered on the copyright issues.  Because it is background music we need to normalize the volume.  I have looked all over the net and searched this list's archives on the issues of formats, compression rates, tags, and normalizing but still have questions.  In order to keep it simple I was going to use Windows Media Player for my ripping.  It is included with XP and reduces the number of applications on PC's in a commercial environment.  I was going to rip to MP3 in order to keep the drain on recources to a minimum and since it's background music on ceiling speakers I didn't really need a large bit-rate.  Is there any reason I shouldn't do this?  Does anyone suggest somehting else.  Can I also use WMP for ripping using a lossless compression for archival purposes?  Also, if I use the built in Volume Normalizer in WMP will SlimServer recognize it?  Is the WMP volume normalizer reverseable?

Sorry about the length of this.
Thanks in advance for ANY input on these issues.

Mike
