Thanks for clearing up my confusion regarding flac streaming when not using
Squeezebox or Softsqueeze.

I have got Softsqueeze working OK and playing flac files.

I will install lame to see if I can get flac/mp3 streaming working.

Can you possibly clear up two other things that I can't understand.

1/ After starting Softsqueeze I am able to browse all my albums by searching *

I am able to see all the albums on a full=screen display, and am able to
scroll through them in order to select which ones I want to play.

If I get a Squeezebox, there won't be a full-screen display. How will I be
able to scroll/browse through my collection (I know I will be able to
search for specific albums/tiles/artists, but I would like to be able to
browse as well).

2/ I am able to select and play albums from within Softsqueeze with no
problems.

How can I use Slimserver to control what is being played on Softsqueeze - I
can see the playlist, Slimserver says 'Now Playing', but nothing seems to
be happening. Is it possible to control album playing in Softsqueeze from
Slimserver?
