I also tried 5.4 on a Mac mini (1.25 GHz, 512 MB). It seems to be fine with MP3 (I didn't try flac).Hi Michael,
I'm currently using a Shuttle PC which is fine but quite noisy - noticeably so at night - so I've been evaluating the mac mini too.
I've just been trying the current 5.4 Slimserver on a Mac Mini (1GB RAM) connected to a wired SB1 and I've had a lot of dropouts playing flac files with Perl taking up about 60% CPU time during playing. The flac files are on an external firewire drive. I haven't tried 6.0.
I'm going to try it again with the SB2 when this arrives. Hopefully with the flac decoding happening on the SB2 the load on the mini mac will be acceptable. I'll post my results if no-one else beats me to it!
Maybe someone at Slim Devices can comment on this.
Cheers,
Steve Agnew.
BTW, I just crashed Firefox (OS X) by stopping the Slimserver. Maybe Firefox couldn't handle refreshing a page that wasn't there?
