I think I can see the problem. *I* have write access to the playlists folder - it is in ~/Music/Playlists and my SlimServer is in ~/Library?prefPanes. But 'group' and 'other' only have read access.
That sounds like a reasonable fix...
I've tried changing to allow write access to all. There's no difference, Save still does not appear,even after I stopped and restarted SlimServer.
What is in your Playlist location in the web interface? I think this setting is right about (or below) where you set your music directory.
There is a location chosen, and I can save to it using the SavePlaylist.pm on the Squeezebox.
