It's a Squeezebox 1 running on XP SP2. Network equipment's a Belkin
Wireless 54Mbps adaptor and a BT Voyager 2100 router, although I had
the same problem with a D-link card on an ad-hoc network in the past.
Any thoughts?

Is this a graphical unit, or the old character based display?

I am not having this problem, but how does one tell the difference between
the two. I've only see the one squeezebox that I have - how can I tell
which one it is?

Just wondering,

click the size button on your remote until the fonts are as large as possible. If they're jagged and made of characters in a smaller font, that's a squeezebox 1. If they're just larger, bitmapped fonts, that's a squeezebox 2.
