Why not just put a laptop in your trunk? 80GB hard disk. Or 2, like some laptops let you. Run slimserver on that. Ethernet to the front, squeezebox in the front, have to a little work to get 12V down to 5 reliably with the startup surge, use standard laptop auto power connector for laptop.
