(wow, the first time I hit the send button before I even had finished the
subject...)
The topic came up a few days back, when I wanted to put my wireless
devices in a DMZ. Following instructions and faq I opened udp/tcp port
3483. But this was not enough. SB1/SliMP3 did not connect at all, SB2
showed a working player interface but did not play. I had to add 9000
("web interface"), too, to get the devices to play music.
Another problem with the devices using port 9000 is that I can't block it
on the unsecure network. And if I don't, access to the server's settings
will be exposed. Not really what I wanted.
I'm quite confused about this as I never saw port 9000 mentioned in the
player's context. The slimproto documentation has one mention of it in the
"Server -> Client Communication" part. But it doesn tell a lot.
Which ports are really needed for SB? SB2? SliMP3?
