Might be because marketing surveys said not to. Or maybe because it doesn't appear to have a Tuner in it so why make the same mistake the Telecomunications Industry did by calling it something it is not (Cell Phone was the worse name possible for a device that is a full duplex transceiver that can only access POTS {Plain Old Telephone Service} by connecting with a base station tower). From what I have been able to read about the Boom, it is not a Radio and has no tuner. Can it stream music from the Internet, it appears it can, but again this in not being a Radio. Maybe it was a description of this new product. "Hey this Sqeezebox actually makes sound on its own!" then Chef Emeril Legasse said, "Boom" instead of "Bam"! And as a parting thought, do we even know if that is the "Official" name of an unreleased future product.
