There is a lot of truth in that, and yes some reform is needed. But
it's still the single greatest pubic media network in the world. No
other service gets used so much internationally and we should be proud
of that. There is no other [non internet] terrestrial radio service
anywhere thats as diverse and professional as the like of Radio 4, 6
Music and Radio 7 etc.

The license fee is tiny compared to what you get from other providers,
and you get 7 radio stations, the world service radio, countless local
stations, listen again with lots of documentaries no commercial station
would ever make. Then there is probably the best news portal in the
world, 5 TV stations... And not a single advertisement EVER. far from
perfect, but I think the BBC are amazing.
