i've read all the arguments before about flac being the equivalent wav. i'm not going to say one is the better than the other in regard to sound quality. but for me, my peace of mind, and my money, i'd rather go completely uncompressed than lossless. my entire cd collection that's taken me decades to amass (plus my wife's) only encompasses half of a 500GB hard drive. you know...better safe than sorry.
