MC, I've no idea what hardware you're running on, but > I've got two Quad Core PCs and a Dual Core PC in my home and all of them run perfectly well on Ubuntu installed from the LiveCD following pretty much the same approach as that of a Windows install, ie insert CD, answer a few questions and let the PC do its thing. A short time later I have a fully functional PC, incorporating internet access, word processing, spreadsheet, email, music player etc. etc. etc. and I haven't had to install or update a single driver requiring countless reboots. Not a single technical question asked, file edited, script written or command line touched.
