I'm using ClamWin now, AVG has gotten to bloated. It's not real time so you have to take care to scan stuff as you get it. I've also started to used OpenDNS, if it does what it says then it reduces the risk of online nasties. It also has the benefit of curtailing my teenage sons top shelf browsing habbits.
