I endorse the earbud idea. I have 2 Shures, one for business travel and another pair for the gym, for the latter I went for their "cheaper" model: http://store.shure.com/store/shure/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.105181400 And honestly, they sound nearly the same. And they do a fantastic job at sound isolation, to the point where I stopped hauling around bulkier noise "cancelling" headphones for business trips - The Shures do a more effective job. Which can be good or bad. It has ahppened to me that after a while of chilling with the Shures on, I find my wife all flustered because she was screaming for me to help her with something. :-) Like I am a Doberman.
