thats why my answer to you was the best answer, i actually listened to what you wanted.
;) in all seriousness, there are a 1000 ways to slaughter a pig. so it all depends on what your exact goals are, and how you want to do it. keep in mind, they do not have a upnp solution yet. while i think its probably coming soon, its hard to say when. therefore the best solution to meet your goals as i see it, is to get a NAS, which is great for more than just storing music btw. some infrant/netgear NAS devices come with SC built in. but the drawback is SC is slow on these devices, (via webUI anyway). however, some other NAS devices are a lot faster, but on those you need to "hack em" to some degree to get SC installed on them. u could also setup a small desktop that would "wake on lan" and run SC from there, and store all your music there as well. this is to a degree overkill, so it has pros and cons too. personally, i am going to get a NAS one day, b/c i do not want a computer on just to listen to music. i'll probably wait until netgear/infrant make a NAS that has a real processor in it, assuming that ever happens. but regardless i'm gonna wait until i see how this upnp solution works as well. i actually think the upnp solution (that uses SN and your SB + your local tunes) would be very elegant with a NAS as opposed to a computer for the local tunes. BUT we need to see how it'll work first. (if the NAS has a generic media server built in, i wouldn't think its a problem). if you need clarifications, just ask, BUT you should google upnp and so on. to do this properly, you will need to educate yourself. -- MrSinatra www.LION-Radio.org Using: Squeezebox2 (primary) / SBR (secondary) / SBC - w/SC 7.3b - Win XP Pro SP3 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - D-Link DIR-655 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54434 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
