Not much to go on.

Well, is the VFD still working?  A VFD is similar to an old vacuum tube. 
  There are wires that are slightly heated to give off electrons which 
hit the phosphorus coated cathodes.  Yeah, more than you wanted to 
know...  Any ways, take the SB3 into a dark room and power it up.  You 
should be able to see a slight orange glow come off (probably) 2 wires 
strung inside the length of the tube.

So, if the SPDIF output and the VFD are powered up...  humm, but there 
is no display...  Gee, I think all SB3s have a welcome display despite 
being connected to a network.  At this point, I'd say your SB3 is not 
booting up.

Check and make absolutely sure you have the correct power supply.  Even 
if the voltage, polarity and plug are correct...  an under powered 
supply (i.e. using a 500mA power supply where a 1000mA power supply is 
required) can cause a lot of grief.  Anyone know what the power output 
capacity of an SB3 supply is?
