"used to" is the operative phrase. Cameras seem to be Kleenex products these days, not like when I got my Nikon F (which I still have) where you would use one for decades. Now, they change models and features every year or two. > I had to make sure and checked the new MacBooks and indeed Pat is > right, no firewire. May be I missed something and USB now supports DV, > at least on Mac's? I don't know what you mean by "DV" here. Images, photos, songs, tunes, etc are just wads-o-bits In the early days, USB 1.0 was too flakey for even audio, Firewire had the chops to do realtime streaming. But USB has had the specs for isosynchronous transfers for a long time, and these days, it works. Modern USB is plenty fast enough. Part of what makes modern OS such bloatware is that they already contain all the drivers in the world, so USB is just plug and play. Altho if you really care about your external disk drive, you would use eSATA -- Pat Farrell http://www.pfarrell.com/ _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
