I have been having intermittent problems accessing my wireless network with an early iPod Touch which seemed a bit weird as it worked OK on an iPhone. My router is a Linksys WAG160N. After several wipe/restore cycles with no joy I have changed the wireless security setting from WPA2-Personal to WPA-Personal and the connection problems have gone away. Just another thing to check if you are having connection issues.
