For once it doesn't matter - they are both digital. Save your money for fat speaker cables! Enough said, but if you like reading this kind of stuff: Really, you either get the digital signal or you don't. Maybe, just maybe, if you have a badly wired house (that is the outlets are at different ground potential) and you go plugging your equipment in these different outlets you may succumb to ground loop problems. Then the optical toslink (aka spdiff) cable would be safer. However, someone is sure to point out that the SqueezeBox uses a wall wart and, as such, probably has a floating ground. Coax cables are easier to find and are much cheaper. And, you are more likely to find coax switching boxes in case you run out of coax toslink inputs on your stereo. On the other hand, most stereos I have see only have 1 coax toslink input and several optical toslink input. So it usually is more convenient to hook up everything using the optical cables. I've bought moderately priced and cheap optical cables. The only difference I see is that the cheap cable ends are molded on where as the more expensive ends are built form parts. I guess if you were going to un-plug and plug in your equipment all the time the better cables will survive longer. For me, the cheap ones work fine. _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
