Since your Netgear device appears to support it, I think full size
images (.iso) of your DVDs are the best option. I use this with my
Popcorn Hour and it works well. I should point out that if you go the
.iso route, then you won't be able to use a FAT32 file system on the
storage medium, because most images are likely to be > 4GB / file.
Depending on the OS you use most frequently, you will need to use file
systems like NTFS, HFS+, EXT2/3, etc.

The other option is to rip to Video_TS folders.

With regards to software for DVD ripping - I think it is a violation of
the DMCA to even discuss methods for ripping DVDs. I don't want to get
this forum into trouble, but I can tell you that Google is your friend
