Just to put a cap on this thread, the general consensus is that sync is MUCH improved in 7.3 (and getting better all the time). There were a few bugs with the new sync code when it went in but those have mostly been ironed out. I'm not saying there are no bugs at all but in general 7.3 is doing a fabulous job of sync.
