Last time I was in the UK there was this chain called Tandy (yes, that's how long ago it was). The chain still exists in the US under a different name. Long story short, if you can get their remote (or most any of the OEM's remotes (OEM's name is: "All For One")) you can reprogram them your self w/a bit of hard work through what essentially is an I2C port (pronounced: "eye squared see"). It is extremely flexible, cheap, complex and absolutely unsupported by the manufacture. In other words: "the perfect hacking experience". The JP1 web site: http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/ One of the remotes that the JP1 techniques works on: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3064079 The all for one site: http://www.oneforall.com/splashfiles/index.html And if your computer (like so many now-a-days) lacks a classic serial port, I would recommend buying (instead of building) this USB adapter (very nicely done for a one person operation): http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9405 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
