I use a small amp, the Russound R235LS, to drive 8" in-ceiling speakers from my SB2. You can find it for under $190 online. It has an adjustable sensitivity auto-on feature, which works great. I mounted mine on the BACK of my master bedroom dresser, so it's completely invisible.
