Most people I see using electronic devices (including iPhones) do so with two hands, whether it's one thumb from each side or one to hold and one to push buttons. True even when texting on a small cell phone. Only TV/electronic IR remotes that are shaped like squashed sweet potatoes lend themselves to regular one handed use.
