We where talking 24/96 files only the transporter can play them natively so other players need a transcoded stream of 24/48 for SB3/2 classic and sbr, boom older ones like SB1 and slimp3 migth need 16/44.1 ? This is the hardest transcoding needed takes more cpu than any other transcoder probably due to volume of data. If you are playing a format that is native to the player say mp3 or 16bit 44.1 kHz flac no transcoder is needed and SC use a fraction of your cpu. The players handle all decoding by them self. See here, check in the decoder row to see what each player is capable of: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/HardwareComparison and here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Transcoding and: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/BeginnersGuideToFileFormats Of you are using a non native format say apple lossles it has to be transcoded as the players don't have this codec in them, however if you are syncing players to the same song you are only using 1 transcoding process. Most problematic is actually playing different non native files to different players, then each player will have a transcoding process going on. If you are using 16/44.1 flac (standard CD rez) or mp3 all is well with world no problems. How, when and what to transcode to is a setting inside SqueezeCenter . Capabilities in this regard may vary depending on OS. -- Mnyb ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64706 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
