When you have more than one AP, they should all have the same SSID and be set to different channels. The security setup should also be the same.
DHCP is best left to a single device on your network because different brands have different "base" networks (Some are 192.168.1.x and others are 192.168.0.x: this leads to "multiple network syndrome.) Since my DSL modem can do DHCP, I turn DHCP off on all other devices and then make each AP have a static address.
