Hi Sebastian First impressions after installing v0.98 on my HTC diamond:
~ Registration: I had to register the app directly on my phone. Using the registration on your homepage (from my PC) resulted in an unusable key - the app would not accept it. Only after trying directly on my phone did I succeed in registering (it launches Internet explorer on my phone, even though I have Opera mini as my standard browser - is that the intention?) ~ Settings: Testing the server: When i'm testing the server from the settings menu, the result is: "Test succeeded Squeeze Server v.none detected" Maybe nice to get a version number from the server? Setting cache location: It would be nice to be able to choose where SlimControl will keep its cache on the phone (i have only 80 MB in total on the main memory, and 4 GB on the internal storage - so choosing internal storage would be preferable in my case) ~ User interface: Choosing players is now VERY sluggish. it takes between 10-40 seconds from i press <choose player> until i get the menu where i can choose a player. The on/off icons for each player does not always show the state of the player (the player is on, but the icon shows it is off (grey)) the scrolling through artists/albums/playlists etc. is greatly improved, and seems very smooth. :) Sometimes the phone will report "Server unreachable" even though the music is playing, and I'm sitting right next to the access point (really good wireless connection). -It seems to happen when I'm changing to another artist/album. Could it be that it is loading album art etc. to the cache, and bogs down the wireless connection. I also noticed thet the music playing would be flaky, cutting out when SC is working (not responding)! In the main playing screen, scrolling through the album art is nice and smooth - I like the way the the album art will scroll and stop when it reaches the edge of the screen, so the full cover of an album is shown. Showing the playlist: Sometimes it will not show the contents of the playlist at all, other times it takes 5-10 seconds to load. all in all -- some improvenemts, but also some bugs in the new and improved interface. Looking forward to test more :) (unfortunatly, the older version 0.95 was more usable in my opinion - yes, not as pretty, but was more stable) -- spumanti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ spumanti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=27080 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64537 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
