Can apps be made player-specific instead of global for all players
connecting to a single mysqueezebox account? Or actually how about
this: I have three squeezeboxes in the house. Can each one of those
have separate mysqueezebox accounts (and thus separate app settings),
but still connect to one local server?

Speaking in the abstract regarding social networks, in a multi-member
household you're going to have multiple social network accounts. In my
house we have three FB users and two Flickr users, each with their own
set of contacts and shared items. While I think it would be lovely to
have multiple accounts on one player, I should at least be able to make
the player most often used by my wife display her Facebook and Flickr
stuff while the player most used by me displays my Facebook and Flickr
stuff.

Also regarding "what's the point?," I second 'ddewey'
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=467679&postcount=17) and
his sentiment that if you're an active Facebook user then you like this
function and if you're not then it is of no use to you. Recognize that
FB has more than '300 million active users'
(http://www.facebook.com/press/info.php?statistics), and they are
accustomed to being able to interact with FB from all kinds of devices
from their phones to their XBoxes. It's a natural fit when you have a
display screen. Indeed even with my SB3, the first "news feed" in my
RSS screen saver is the status of my facebook friends. And note to
Andy: the second feed is my wife's friends and the third is my son's
friends.
