I would say probably a SB Radio. I think having presets for their favorites is a big advantage, so that narrows it to the Boom or Radio. The Boom and Radio also don't require remotes, which is another plus. Most kids that age break things -- it's part of how they learn -- so the Radio has the advantage of being the least expensive. They'll probably like the colorful LCD screen better than the VFD of the Boom.
